Teaching students to be metacognitive is a way we can enhance reflective dispositions. When students know what and why they are learning what they do, they are better able to tell us what they know and can do.
Armed with this knowledge, we can really cater to their specific needs, giving them very tailored instruction through strategic feedback in the formative process. Students can then create, better more focused goals and work through their learning at their own pace.
Using reflection as a tool for kids and teachers to align instruction provides the best opportunity for real differentiation and personalized learning.
